What Level of German Is Required for Ausbildung?

Most Ausbildung courses require a minimum level of B1 in the Common European Framework of Reference (CEFR). At this level, one understands every day conversations and has no problem speaking or following learnings in the work situation.

These expectations are not the same for every vocations. In the nursing, elderly care, heath and medical related Ausbildungen program, requirements are generally B2 level in German language; as the workers (nurses, doctors, nurses and other staff) should be able to interact precisely with patients and doctors.

Mechatronics, automotive, logistics, hospitality, retail and manufacturing are some of the technical areas that often employ B1 level candidates, although those with better communication skills may have an advantage in obtaining employment.

Depending on the job and the registration you will be asked to show officially recognized certificates of German language skills such as Goethe-Zertifikat, telc or TestDaF.

It is not only necessary for getting accepted that you do well in learning German, it is even more crucial for your success during your training period. Students go to vocational school, do their homework, take part in in-door and out-door training and use the colleagues' German every day.
